Tire deflation is our sole focus. Check out some of the common questions we receive below or watch our FAQ video for visuals on some of these questions as well as maintenance and tips. Contact us at Support@Over-Sand.Com for any additional questions.
How Accurate are your deflators?
Over-Sand Tire Deflators were independently designed for accuracy. We expect our deflators to achieve the set PSI with near zero variation. If you consistently measure a deviation over ±2 PSI, contact us. In most cases, following the recalibration/cleaning steps at the end of our FAQ video restores accurate performance.
How Fast do they Deflate?
Designed not only for accuracy, but speed as well. The internal piston and spring allow the device to react quickly to a change in PSI forcing air out through the vent. The end result will depend on tire size and your selected PSI, but a standard 34-inch off-road tire will deflate from 35 PSI to 20 PSI in about 2 minutes. Larger tires deflating down to single digit PSI will take about 4 minutes.
Rock Crawling and Low PSI Requirements.
While technically the last notch on the Auxiliary scale ends at 6 PSI, it is very easy to dial past the last notch and reach 5 or even 4 PSI with accuracy. Check out our instructional video or contact us if you require any help dialing to whatever PSI you need.
Why 4 deflators?
With speed in mind, each set comes with four so you can deflate all tires simultaneously, saving you time.
Do They Stop Automatically?
Yes. Set your desired PSI, screw them onto each tire, and they will stop automatically at the set PSI. No need to double check or guess. Also, no need to squat down at each tire manually deflating.
My Deflators Did Not Start Deflating Automatically When I Screwed Them on.
Pull the center plunger to “kick-start” deflation. This may be needed if the difference between your starting PSI and the set PSI is small. Once deflation starts, it will continue until the desired PSI is reached.
Do They Stay on While Driving?
Once your deflators stop, it is recommended to remove and keep them in the provided storage tin. While it is ok to drive short distances with them on, (maybe from a parking lot to a trailhead while they are deflating) it is not recommended to offroad with them on.
Do They Remove the Valve Core?
No. They depress the valve core to rapidly deflate but do not remove it, preventing possible loss of the core or any additional wear and tear.
Are They Durable?
Extremely. Each deflator is made from 6061 anodized aluminum combining light weight and strength. This same material is commonly used to make high end off-road shocks.
